Faith Moves Mountains

Galatians 3:1-14

Paul calls the Galatians foolish because they have drifted from a faith filled journey to one where they rely on works of the flesh and following the law to gain righteousness. I wonder what Paul would call us, the modern believers (many a times pretend believers !) who fail to notice the absence of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in our faith communities ! Do we even know what it would feel like to be guided by the Spirit always, to live for our Saviour alone and to be dead to the world?

Let's check out verse 5." Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law or by your believing what you heard? " This is a clear indication that the Spirit of God moved in their midst and that miracles happened in that faith community. Contrast this with our modern lives where we are all super stressed, rush through our devotions if at all, yawn and fiddle with our phones through long prayer meetings and worship services. We are so blinded by our materialism that we fail to realize that the absence of miracles in our lives is an indication of the Holy Spirit being missing from our lives!

Many of us have a mountain in our life. We pray but the mountains don't move, leave alone fall into the sea. Why? Let us return to our Bibles, to our quiet time with God, let us beseech him to send the Holy Spirit into our lives. Let us pray for increased faith. Let us pray for spiritual revival both at a personal and faith community levels. Let us humble ourselves and recognize that we are more than foolish. We are illiterate in the scriptures and far away from God, and what is more, totally ignorant of this truth :(

Lord Almighty, fill me with faith and your Holy Spirit, amen.
